Coach Marks 85th Anniversary With Inside-Out Runway Collection

New York – September 15, 2026 -- Coach unveiled its Spring 2027 collection at a runway show in downtown New York City, celebrating the house's 85th anniversary with a mix of slim tailoring, exposed construction and party-inspired leatherwork.

Creative Director Stuart Vevers reworks familiar Coach shapes instead of looking back

"For Coach's 85th anniversary, I was thinking about memory and the way familiar things change as we live with them," said Vevers. He said the team turned familiar Coach ideas inside out, softened them and left traces of a celebration on the pieces. The collection draws on archetypes long tied to his Coach work, including the trench coat, leather jacket, tuxedo, bias-cut dress and Western boot, with slim classical tailoring featuring clean shoulders and narrow sleeves.

Outerwear reveals its own construction

Overcoats, blazers and trenches appear with inside-out constructions exposing linings and internal structure, made in soft nappa leather with kisslock pockets referencing Coach's leather goods history. Other jackets use garment-dyed, sun-faded heavyweight jersey. Bias-cut dresses and skirts appear in repurposed lining fabrics, overdyed georgette, repurposed denim, lamé and sequins, with visible facings and catch stitching left exposed.

The anniversary shows up as leftover party details

Leather is rubbed with gold and silver metallic foil, confetti is worked into bags and shoes, and glitter is mixed with red nail polish for cracked, hand-finished effects. Crowns, pointed hats, bows, gifts and birthday cards are recreated in leather. Secondhand leather garments and denim are reworked into new pieces, and vintage Coach pouches are assembled into a new collaged Tabby bag.

New leather goods reference Coach's design history

The new Turnlock Tote is inspired by a 1970 Coach design and uses turnlock hardware introduced by the house's first lead designer, Bonnie Cashin, finished with metallic foil and confetti treatments. The Inside-Out Brooklyn exposes the internal construction of one of Coach's recent signature bags. Footwear includes a new Hudson sneaker with 1970s tennis-shoe proportions and a slouchy Western boot in calf leather.

The show closed with live music and dancers

Before the presentation, guests sipped a special anniversary cocktail called the Coach 85, made with Tanqueray gin, in a dimly lit space with leather-wrapped collection notes. The finale featured string musicians from UpBeat NYC, a Bronx-based nonprofit offering free music education, performing over a backing track alongside saxophonists. Eight voguing dancers directed by Arturo Lyons joined the models as confetti fell, leading guests into a newly revealed space called Coach Club 85.
