GUIYANG, China -- August 30, 2026 -- China opened its largest big data industry showcase in Guiyang, capital of southwestern Guizhou province, on August 28, bringing together more than 300 exhibitors working on artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data security. The China International Big Data Industry Expo, themed "Token: A New Path to the Value of Data Elements," drew companies from China and abroad to strike deals on computing infrastructure and data services that increasingly power everyday digital tools. Guiyang and the neighboring Gui'an New Area, longtime hosts of the expo, used the event to spotlight the region's fast-growing computing power industry.
The expo organized its exhibits and programming around five themes: computing infrastructure, data supply, model-driven development, security, and intelligent user experience. Exhibitors ranged from AI developers to cloud computing firms and data security specialists, both domestic and international, filling out a show floor meant to connect technology suppliers with the businesses that rely on their tools.
Exhibitors Strike Cross-Border Deals
Organizers paired the expo with four specialized industrial parks to run trade and matchmaking sessions, linking companies across the supply chain from raw data providers to finished digital applications. The event also finalized partnerships with more than 30 foreign companies, opening a series of cross-border exchange and cooperation activities aimed at expanding shared resources and business opportunities in the big data sector.
Guizhou's Data Centers Hit Massive Scale
Guiyang and Gui'an New Area now host 26 large or very large data centers with combined computing power exceeding 174 EFLOPS, according to the expo's organizers. Intelligent computing accounts for more than 98% of that total capacity. The region's data centers run at an average Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.19, a figure organizers cited as evidence of efficient, low-carbon operations as the area builds out national digital infrastructure.
Software Industry Crosses Billion-Yuan Threshold
Growth in the region's big data industry cluster has pushed local software and IT services revenue past 100 billion yuan, marking the sector's arrival at what officials described as a hundred-billion-yuan industry milestone. The expo's organizers pointed to that revenue figure as a foundation for continued growth in China's digital economy.
