Doylestown – September 07, 2026 -- More than 60,000 runners, walkers, ruckers and volunteers will gather across over 100 communities nationwide for the 19th annual 9/11 Heroes Run, marking 25 years since the September 11 attacks.
The race series, organized by the Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), begins September 5 and continues into October. For the first time, CVS Health is serving as national title sponsor, backing efforts to expand the event's reach.
The run traces back to a Marine's visit to FDNY firefighters
The event was inspired by 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, who was killed in Iraq in April 2007 while protecting fellow Marines. Before his final deployment, Manion visited New York City Fire Department Rescue Company 1, which suffered heavy losses on 9/11, and left inspired by the courage of first responders. The first Heroes Run took place in 2008 in his hometown of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
Veterans and young Americans who never lived through 9/11 will run side by side
Organizers describe the events as a bridge between generations, uniting veterans, first responders and civilians with younger participants who know September 11 only through stories passed down to them.
"Twenty-five years after the tragedy of 9/11, we are reminded that 'Never Forget' is more than a promise. It is a responsibility," said Ryan Manion, CEO of Travis Manion Foundation.
CVS Health joins as title sponsor for the first time this year
Len Shankman, Executive Vice President at CVS Health and President of Pharmacy Services, said the company sees the run as a reminder of the strength that comes from communities standing together and honoring those who served and sacrificed.
Participants can register to run, walk, ruck or volunteer at events nationwide, with virtual participation and local "Shadow Events" also available for communities without an in-person race.
