San Mateo, Calif. – September 24, 2026 -- GoPro's new MISSION 1 Series of cinema cameras has picked up 11 awards from 10 tech and outdoor publications, with prices starting at $599.99 for the base MISSION 1 model.
WIRED scores the MISSION 1 PRO a 9 out of 10
WIRED named the MISSION 1 PRO its Best Overall Action Camera for 2026, pointing to the 1-inch sensor, 8K video and slow-motion range. SlashGear gave the MISSION 1 PRO its Best Action Camera nod and handed Best Camera honors to the MISSION 1 PRO ILS on its Hot List 2026.
PCMag awarded the standard MISSION 1 an Editors' Choice rating of 4.5 out of 5, praising image quality, battery life and durability. Tom's Guide and Gizmodo also gave the MISSION 1 PRO Editor's Choice recognition, with Tom's Guide highlighting 8K30 Open Gate and 8K60 capture alongside best-in-class battery and thermal performance.
The lineup's first interchangeable-lens camera wins a creative-flexibility award
TechRadar gave the MISSION 1 PRO ILS -- GoPro's first camera with an interchangeable lens mount -- its Recommends award at 4.5 out of 5, citing the Micro Four Thirds mount. Digital Camera World also recommended the MISSION 1 PRO, scoring it 4.5 out of 5 for 8K60 recording and 10-bit log color.
Mashable gave the full MISSION 1 Series a Choice Award with a 4.6 out of 5 score, and SURFER named the MISSION 1 PRO Best Waterproof Camera in its 2026 awards for durability and stabilization. The Shortcut also handed the camera an Editor's Choice award for its Open Gate 8K30 and 4K120 capture and four-microphone array.
Engadget separately scored the MISSION 1 PRO 8.7 out of 10, and NBC Select included it in its Best New Products roundup for May 2026.
Six camera versions and a companion app are available now
The MISSION 1 Series includes six versions: MISSION 1 ($599.99, or $499.99 for GoPro subscribers), MISSION 1 PRO ($699.99/$599.99), MISSION 1 PRO Grip Edition ($779.99/$679.99), MISSION 1 PRO ILS ($699.99/$599.99), MISSION 1 PRO Creator Edition ($1,099.99/$949.99), and MISSION 1 PRO Ultimate Creator Edition ($1,199.99/$1,049.99). All are sold now at GoPro.com and at retailers worldwide.
GoPro also released a free companion app, MISSION Monitor, for iPhone and iPad running iOS 18 or later, turning the devices into professional monitors with focus peaking, zebra patterns and real-time LUT previews.
