EMR pen technology aims to replicate pencil-on-paper friction
Unlike most kids' tablets that rely on capacitive pens, the ArtPlay Pad uses professional-grade EMR (Electro-Magnetic Resonance) technology with 16K pressure sensitivity, paired with a paper-like anti-glare display and full palm rejection. Amy Yuan, ugee's Global Brand Director, said the goal was to solve three problems: the slick, unresponsive feel of glass screens, the gap between flat drawing and 3D thinking, and eye strain from prolonged screen use.
Tripo AI converts flat drawings into 3D models with one tap
The tablet integrates a lifetime, ad-free education license for ibisPaint alongside Tripo AI, which turns a child's sketch into a 3D model instantly. Those models can be exported directly to ugee's Funbox 3D Printer, turning a digital doodle into a physical object such as a phone stand or organizer. The company frames the workflow as embedding STEM learning at each stage, from spatial reasoning while modeling to engineering basics while printing.
TÜV SÜD certification targets blue light exposure, not just screen time
The 12-inch 2K display uses a 16:9 aspect ratio, 16.7 million colors, full lamination, and anti-glare plus anti-fingerprint coating. It carries TÜV SÜD Low Blue Light Certification and AG-etched glass anti-glare, which ugee says reduces eye strain and reflections without sacrificing color accuracy.
Specs include a 7800 mAh battery and 256GB expandable storage
The device runs on a MediaTek Helio G99 octa-core chip with 6GB RAM and 256GB of expandable storage, enough to hold more than 50,000 sketches and hundreds of 3D models. The 7800 mAh battery provides up to 18 hours of drawing or 12 hours of video playback, with 30W fast charging. Additional features include 360-degree quad-speaker audio, a 13MP rear camera, an 8MP front camera, and an adjustable silicone case with a stepless stand and stylus slot. The tablet weighs 644 grams and measures 7.4mm thick.
Google Play access opens the device to broader creative and education apps
Beyond the pre-installed ibisPaint and Tripo AI tools, the ArtPlay Pad connects to Google Play's library of creative and educational apps, spanning digital painting, 3D modeling, animation, and interactive learning.
