YSL Beauty Takes Over SoHo Taqueria for Star-Studded NYC Block Party

New York – September 20, 2026 -- YSL Beauty transformed La Esquina, the SoHo taqueria at the corner of Kenmare and Lafayette, into a one-night takeover for the New York edition of its global Block Party series, drawing Teyana Taylor, Lauryn Hill, Emmy Rossum, Karl Anthony Towns and wife Jordyn Woods, alongside YSL Beauty U.S. Makeup Ambassadors Amelia Gray and Laura Harrier.

Mark Ronson provided the night's soundtrack
The DJ delivered a live performance that kept guests dancing as the party started while the city was still light and carried on into the downtown night.

Two new products anchored the takeover
The event centered on two new launches: Black Opium Pink Glaze feminine fragrance and Make Me Blush Cream Lifted Glow Cream Blush. La Esquina was outfitted with custom vending machines, deli-window product displays, a pink-and-black pool table, and an on-site presence from tattoo parlor Bang Bang, whose artists worked on guests throughout the night.

Food and drink tied directly into the launch
Guests were served La Esquina's tacos and cocktails, reworked to draw inspiration from the scents and shades of Black Opium Pink Glaze and Make Me Blush.

The space itself stayed intact
Rather than rebuilding La Esquina, YSL Beauty layered its own visual codes — concrete, metal, graphic posters, and flashes of pink and black — over the venue's existing architecture, extending from street level down into its subterranean rooms.

The New York stop follows other cities in YSL Beauty's ongoing Block Party series, each one embedding the brand into a different local cultural landmark rather than staging a standalone event.
