United States – October 13, 2026 -- Members of the coaching service Future can now get DEXA body composition scans through BodySpec: Core members receive one scan per year, and Premium members receive one every quarter.
Additional scans can be bought directly in the Future app. The scans measure body fat, visceral fat, lean muscle mass and bone density, and they join Future's existing bloodwork, sleep tracking and mobility assessments.
BodySpec covers 15 metro markets
BodySpec is Future's preferred partner across 15 metropolitan markets, including Chicago, Boston, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, Denver, San Diego and Seattle. BodySpec says it scans more than a thousand people a day across the U.S.
Members with scans logged more workouts and messages
Future shared early beta data covering 185 members with at least 30 days in the program. Members who completed a DEXA scan averaged 5.8 workouts per week, versus 3.7 for those who did not. They also exchanged 6.7 messages per week with their coach, compared with 4.7.
Coaches turn scan results into a plan
Future CEO Ali Jafari said a DEXA scan is far more valuable as part of an ongoing coaching relationship. Coaches help members interpret results, build a plan and track progress, which gives members a reason to book a follow-up scan through BodySpec.
BodySpec co-founder and CEO Elaine Shi said members now have a new way to fold DEXA results into a continuous health plan and make better, real-time decisions about their health.
The DEXA scans are available to Future members starting today.
