New Book Offers Roadmap for Using GLP-1 Weight Loss Drugs Responsibly

New York – October 07, 2026 -- Bracha Banayan, a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and founder of telehealth practice Hello Dose, has released a new book titled "Why Are You Still Hungry?" aimed at people using or considering GLP-1 weight-loss medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. The paperback is available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and BookBaby, while the eBook can be found on Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo and BookBaby's Bookshop.

The book explains the biology behind stubborn weight gain.

Banayan breaks down factors such as insulin resistance, the body's weight "set point" and "food noise" -- the persistent, intrusive thoughts about food many patients report. She describes in plain language how GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist drugs act on both the gut and the brain.

A four-part framework guides readers through treatment.

Rather than treating medication as a shortcut, the book positions GLP-1 therapy as one tool alongside behavior change. Banayan's DROP Method centers on Dosing, Real-time feedback, Owning your habits and the Pause factor. Additional chapters address side-effect management, working with a provider on proper dosing, and the stigma surrounding weight-loss medications.

Banayan's own 20-pound weight gain during the pandemic shaped her approach.

She once advised patients to simply eat less and move more, until she gained roughly 20 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic and spent nearly two years unable to lose it through diet and exercise alone. She later began taking semaglutide under medical supervision, an experience she says reshaped her clinical practice after she noticed widespread confusion among patients -- some taking higher doses than necessary, others starting treatment without addressing underlying habits.

The book includes an endorsement from a former fitness-industry CEO.

Amy Shecter, former CEO of CorePower Yoga and Glamsquad, credits the book with clarifying the science behind GLP-1 drugs and offering patients a practical roadmap.

"So many people have been made to feel that their weight is a character flaw, and it isn't. It's biology, and asking for help takes courage," Banayan said. "But these medications aren't magic, either. They open a window, and what you do with that window matters."

The publisher notes the book is intended for educational purposes only and does not replace individualized medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. GLP-1 receptor agonists are FDA-approved prescription medications for specific indications and should be used only under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
