13,500 Pink Bags Head to Breast Cancer Patients Across the U.S.

JONESBORO, Ark. – October 31, 2026 -- More than 13,500 free "Pink Bag" care packages are going to women and men facing breast cancer diagnosis and recovery through the 2026 UBCF-Brookfield Pink Bag Event Initiative, a national campaign from the United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) and GGP, formerly Brookfield Properties.

The events run from the end of September through early November, timed to Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Each bag holds name-brand personal care products, beauty tools, accessories, and practical essentials. The organizers value the full set of gifts at more than $8,576,742.40, all made possible by in-kind contributions from retail donors.

GGP hosts the events at 28 shopping centers

GGP is hosting the Pink Bag Events at 28 of its shopping centers nationwide. This is the fifth consecutive year of the UBCF-GGP collaboration, which has reached thousands of patients and survivors. The events also double as outreach on prevention, screening, treatment options, and survivorship resources.

UBCF Executive Director Stephanie Mastroianni said this year's numbers have surpassed those of previous years. Caryn Torres, Senior Vice President of Property Management at Brookfield Properties, said the program has grown into something her community looks forward to each year.

A woman is diagnosed every two minutes

The campaign arrives against sobering figures. In the United States, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every two minutes, and the disease will affect 1 in 8 women in her lifetime. About 2,800 men will be diagnosed this year.

Early detection matters: according to the American Cancer Society, the five-year survival rate is 99% when breast cancer is found at its earliest, localized stage. More than 4 million breast cancer survivors currently live in the U.S.

UBCF invites supporters to a November 20 gala

UBCF will hold its "Think Pink Gala" on November 20, 2026, at The Plaza in New York City. Tickets are sold through the foundation. Since its founding in 2000, UBCF has offered financial assistance, screening initiatives, and in-kind donations such as the Pink Bag Events.
