PVA Launches 'Voices of PVA' Podcast for Veterans With Spinal Cord Injuries

Washington – September 24, 2026 -- Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) debuted its new podcast, "Voices of PVA," on September 22, with new episodes releasing every other week starting October 6.

The audio-only show targets veterans and the broader disability community, including people living with spinal cord injuries or diseases (SCI/D) such as MS and ALS. The first season will run 24 episodes total.

Two hosts bring personal and professional ties to disability issues

The podcast is hosted by Al Kovach, a U.S. Navy SEAL veteran, Paralympian, and editor-in-chief of Paraplegic News and Sports 'N Spokes magazines, alongside PVA reporter Chad Stewart. Each episode features guests ranging from veteran athletes and policy leaders to caregivers and researchers.

PVA leadership frames the show as filling a gap in coverage

"While most outlets cover veteran or disability issues, our podcast, like PVA's important work, covers them both," said Carl Blake, CEO of Paralyzed Veterans of America. Robert Thomas, a U.S. Army veteran and national president of PVA, said the organization has wanted a podcast like this "for a long time."

Content spans healthcare, legislation, and adaptive sports

Episodes will cover healthcare battles, legislative wins, and adaptive sports journeys shaping life with SCI/D. Kovach said the goal is for listeners to feel less alone or discover resources they didn't know existed.

Early listener reaction has already reached PVA

Within two days of launch, PVA received feedback from listeners including Chadwick W., a U.S. Air Force veteran and PVA Buckeye Chapter member, who said the podcast creates "a safe, engaging space for diverse perspectives."

Listeners can find the podcast and its hosts at PVA.org/VoicesOfPVA, with subscription and review options available through PVA's Substack channel.
