Fountain Valley – October 27, 2026 -- Patients in Orange County and Long Beach now have three MemorialCare hospitals ranked among America's 100 Best Hospitals by Healthgrades, with top marks in gastrointestinal care, gastrointestinal surgery and prostate surgery.
Saddleback Medical Center, Orange Coast Medical Center and Long Beach Medical Center also earned five-star ratings in seven specialties: cardiac, critical care, gastrointestinal, neurosciences (including stroke), orthopedics, prostate surgery and pulmonary care.
Saddleback leads with GI honors for the sixth straight year
Saddleback was named among the 100 Best for Gastrointestinal Care for the sixth consecutive year and for Gastrointestinal Surgery for the third. It ranks among the top 5% nationally for overall GI services and GI surgery, and among the top 10% for GI medical treatment. Within California, it ranks No. 4 for Gastrointestinal Care and No. 5 for Gastrointestinal Surgery.
The hospital also holds five-star ratings for Treatment of GI Bleed and Treatment of Bowel Obstruction (both sixth consecutive year) and Colorectal Surgeries (fourth). Beyond GI, it received Excellence Awards for Critical Care, Pulmonary Care, Surgical Care and Emergency Hospitalization, and earned five stars for COPD and Sepsis for the sixth consecutive year.
Orange Coast earns 10 straight years of sepsis excellence
Orange Coast was named one of the 100 Best for Prostate Surgeries. It won Excellence Awards for Stroke Care (second consecutive year), Pulmonary Care and Prostate Surgery. It ranks among the top 10% nationally for overall pulmonary services and prostate surgery, and among the top 15% for stroke care.
Its five-star ratings include Treatment of Stroke, Cranial Neurosurgery, Defibrillator Procedures, Back Surgery and Colorectal Surgeries. Its sepsis rating marks 10 consecutive years of excellence in sepsis treatment.
Long Beach holds its prostate surgery ranking for a third year
Long Beach Medical Center was recognized among the 100 Best for Prostate Surgeries for the third consecutive year and received the Prostate Surgery Excellence Award for the same period. It ranks among the top 10% nationally for prostate surgery and earned a five-star rating for Transurethral Prostate Resection Surgery. Additional five-star ratings cover Hip Fracture Treatment, Pneumonia, Bowel Obstruction and Respiratory Failure.
Ratings draw on mortality and complication data
Healthgrades' 2027 hospital assessment evaluated more than 30 common conditions and procedures, analyzing risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates at approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
MemorialCare Chief Medical Officer Eugene Kim, M.D., said the recognition reflects the outcomes its care teams deliver and that the system holds itself accountable to the data.
