New York – September 11, 2026 -- The University of Medicine and Health Sciences (UMHS) is cutting tuition for its Accelerated Review Program (ARP) by 35%, bringing the cost down to $7,000, effective May 2026.
The one-semester program prepares students for medical school in 15 weeks
ARP is designed to help students strengthen foundational science knowledge and build study strategies before entering the rigorous MD curriculum. Unlike post-baccalaureate or master's programs that can require one to two years of coursework without guaranteeing medical school admission, ARP is completed in a single 15-week semester.
Students who earn a B or higher automatically receive a $7,000 scholarship
Those who complete ARP with a grade of B or better automatically qualify for a $7,000 ARP Success Scholarship, applied toward tuition in UMHS's Basic Sciences program. Students who successfully finish ARP also progress directly into Semester 1 of the UMHS MD program, without a separate admissions process.
The program targets non-traditional students and career changers
UMHS built ARP for students who could benefit from extra preparation before starting medical school, including career changers and those returning to academics after time away. Coursework covers foundational sciences, medical terminology, test-taking skills, professionalism, and wellness, taught by the same faculty who lead the Basic Sciences program.
Students can study online or on UMHS's St. Kitts campus
ARP is available remotely or in person at the university's campus in St. Kitts, where students have access to anatomy labs, libraries, and academic support resources. Attending in person also gives students a head start on adjusting to life on the island before beginning the MD program.

The university says ARP has contributed to its overall student outcomes, including a 96% student retention rate and a 94% residency Match rate, with graduates placed across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada. "Medical school is challenging, and students deserve every opportunity to succeed from the moment they begin their journey," said Warren Ross, adding that reducing tuition expands access to a program that has "transformed outcomes for many aspiring physicians."
UMHS operates a 7:1 student-to-faculty ratio, with students completing Basic Sciences coursework in St. Kitts and Nevis before moving to clinical training sites in the United States and Canada.
