Globus Zweibrücken Reopens With 20% Off After Big Rebuild

Völklingen – October 29, 2026 -- Shoppers get 20 percent off their purchases from Thursday, October 29, to Saturday, October 31, 2026, as the Globus Baumarkt in Zweibrücken reopens after a rebuild of about a year and a half. The store stayed open throughout the work and is also celebrating 40 years at its location.

A bigger store with a new layout

The DIY store opened on January 13, 1986. At about 10,000 square meters, it was then the largest DIY store in Germany. Major modernizations followed in 1991 and 2001. After the latest rebuild, it covers around 19,000 square meters including the garden center and carries more than 60,000 items. Globus put the investment at roughly 14 million euros and added about 1,000 square meters of floor space.

Inside, a redesigned central aisle about 200 meters long links all specialist departments through information islands. Signage and a customer guidance system aim to make the step-free store easier to navigate. Camping and leisure, including garden furniture and grills, now sit inside the main store next to the redesigned garden and plant sections. Rainwater is now used to water the plants.

Click & Collect in one hour, or 30 minutes for tradespeople

A new service center with an attached pickup warehouse is one of the biggest additions. It has its own parking and handles industrial gas sales, key cutting, trailer rental, machine rental and a tradesman service.

Online orders reserved through Click & Collect can be collected within one hour. Trade customers can collect within 30 minutes. Shoppers with bulky goods or large quantities can drive directly into the new covered pickup warehouse.

Four return machines now open straight from the parking lot

The beverage center was redesigned, and the wine section now has a wine-cellar look. Four reverse vending machines for empties sit behind their own entrance, reachable directly from the parking lot. The lot has about 480 spaces and was also redesigned.

Outside, two gas cylinder machines let customers buy and swap cylinders. One stands at the service center and works during opening hours. The other is on the customer parking lot and is accessible 24/7. Fast chargers for electric cars supply 100 percent green electricity.

Twelve express checkouts with staff on hand

The store has twelve express checkouts where employees help with scanning or handle the whole checkout on request. Business customers can buy on invoice. Many items carry a seven-year dealer warranty, and a best-price guarantee applies. The store's own brands are Primaster and TrendLine.

A team of 185 employees serves customers who come mostly from the Westpfalz region, Saarland and neighboring France. Store manager Claus Wagner will mark his own 40th anniversary with Globus Baumarkt next year. The in-house restaurant Trefferia at the entrance serves breakfast, lunch, cake and snacks such as currywurst, all available to take away.
