Keller, Texas – October 27, 2026 -- Homeowners in Northeast Tarrant County can now call one licensed company for both a water heater and a furnace, as Polly Plumbing, Heating & Air adds heating and air conditioning service ahead of North Texas' first freeze.
The National Weather Service puts the average first freeze for Dallas-Fort Worth on November 22, which is 26 days away. NOAA's 2026-2027 Winter Outlook, released October 15, calls for a very strong El Niño and wetter-than-average conditions across the southern United States from December through February.
Why the family-owned company added HVAC work
The Keller company added HVAC service as it approached its first year in business. Co-Founder and CEO Polly Brady said plumbing customers kept asking about furnaces while technicians were already in the attic for a water heater. The Southlake Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting on August 18, 2026. Every estimate shows the exact price in three options before work starts.
Technicians measure four readings and write them next to the manufacturer's specification
According to the company, a technician records static pressure, temperature rise or split, amp draw, and refrigerant pressure. Each number goes beside the manufacturer's specification, and the homeowner keeps the written report. Master HVAC license holder Russell Dean said an inspection should be a measurement, not a glance.
Four questions to ask any HVAC company before hiring
- Ask for measured readings written next to the manufacturer's specification, not a verbal opinion.
- Ask the technician to read your system's age from the data plate.
- Ask for the exact price before work begins, with more than one option.
- Ask for the Texas HVAC contractor license number (TACLB followed by digits) and check it with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Four warning signs call for a licensed technician before the freeze
A metallic or electrical smell when the heat first runs is one sign. A faint dust smell for a few minutes is normal. The others are a burner that clicks repeatedly without lighting, a system that turns on and off every few minutes, and a carbon monoxide detector that is missing outside the bedrooms or past its replacement date. If any of these appear, turn the system off at the thermostat and call a licensed technician.
Older Keller and Southlake homes may still have original equipment
Census counts show Keller growing from 13,683 residents in 1990 to 39,627 in 2010, and Southlake from 7,065 to 26,575. Homes from that era commonly still have their original furnace or a first replacement, the company says.
Customers receive the technician's name, photo, and live tracking by text before arrival, plus a photo and written summary after the job. Inspections can be scheduled in Keller, Southlake, Colleyville, Grapevine, Fort Worth, Arlington, and across Tarrant County.
