Berlin – September 15, 2026 -- Catawiki is expanding its livestreamed auction format, Catawiki Live, into seven new categories: fashion (bags, sneakers and accessories), minerals, coins, toys, vinyl records, hi-fi & radio, and comics & books.
Live auctions already outperform standard listings
Since launching in May, Catawiki Live has hosted hundreds of livestreams watched by tens of thousands of users over thousands of hours. Thousands of items have sold through the format, and one in three objects sold via Catawiki Live auctions went to someone watching the livestream in real time. Auctions using the Live format have also seen double-digit increases in both the number of bidders per item and total bids placed, compared to Catawiki's standard auctions.
The format turns the final 90 minutes of select auctions into a livestream hosted by the seller, letting bidders watch items in real time, ask questions, and interact with sellers and other collectors. Those not watching can still bid through the regular item page.
Rare Pokémon cards and a gold nugget topped past sales
The most valuable items sold through Catawiki Live so far include a PSA-10 Pokémon Latios & Latias GX Team Up #170 card for 17,250 euros, a PSA-10 Poncho Pikachu-Charizard Pokémon card for 14,251 euros, a naturally formed gold nugget weighing nearly 50 grams for 10,450 euros, and a Christian Dior Lady Dior shoulder bag for 3,000 euros. The most intense bidding war to date involved a rare 2001 first-edition Japanese Pokémon WEB Magikarp card with a PSA-10 rating -- one of only about 200 cards with that grade -- which drew 71 bids from 25 bidders.
Fashion and vintage audio streams are scheduled for September
Upcoming livestreams include a September 9, 2026 auction featuring pre-loved luxury pieces, among them a black Chanel Single Flap vintage bag estimated at 2,500 to 3,000 euros. A September 10, 2026 auction called "Signature Pieces" will feature designer bags and accessories including a Bottega Veneta Veneta shoulder bag. Also on September 10, 2026, the "Audio Star Live Auction" will stream vintage hi-fi and radio equipment. Comics and book auctions are also joining the Live lineup.
Catawiki CEO Ravi Vora said the format aims to recreate the atmosphere of an auction room for buyers wherever they are, letting them share the excitement of bidding with other collectors online.
