Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – September 17, 2026 -- The Magic of Disney Animation, a new collection of interactive experiences, has opened at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.
The building echoes Disney Animation's real-world Burbank headquarters
The structure draws its design from the iconic Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California, and features artwork representing all 65 Walt Disney Animation Studios feature films, including the studio's upcoming 2026 release, "Hexed."
The experience is built on an Emmy-winning short film
The attraction takes inspiration from Disney Animation's Emmy Award-winning short "Once Upon a Studio," with director Dan Abraham working alongside Walt Disney Imagineering's Daniel Handke to shape the project.
Kids can climb through Mary Blair's Wonderland
"Drawn to Wonderland" is an indoor playground based on Disney Legend Mary Blair's original "Alice in Wonderland" concept art, letting young guests explore settings like the Mad Tea Party, the Queen of Hearts' rose garden and the Cheshire Cat's Tulgey Wood.
Guests meet characters tied to specific animation stages
In "Off the Page!," visitors can meet characters representing different parts of the filmmaking process, including Mulan in Story, Rapunzel in Layout, Chip 'n Dale in Hand-Drawn Animation, Donald and Daisy in Computer Animation, Goofy in Lighting, and Stitch in Effects.
Olaf teaches drawing as a new Audio-Animatronics figure
"Olaf Draws!" introduces an all-new Audio-Animatronics Olaf who guides guests through drawing lessons recorded by Disney Animation artists and filmmakers, covering characters from Mickey Mouse to Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. Contributors include directors Dan Abraham, Fawn Veerasunthorn, Trent Correy and Byron Howard, along with animators Eric Goldberg and Michael Woodside.
Josh Gad, the voice of Olaf, recorded original dialogue for the attraction. "I'm so thrilled that a whole new generation of kids can dream of becoming animators one day and can actually begin their journey right there on the studio lot," Gad said.
A dedicated theater shows the film that inspired it all
The Once Upon a Studio Theater screens the original Emmy-winning short with enhanced effects and new animation created exclusively for the space, while characters appear to emerge from artwork along the theater walls.
An adjoining art gallery displays Disney Animation character artwork that, on closer inspection, reveals newly created animation making the pieces come to life.
