Plymouth, Mich. – September 22, 2026 -- Stardock Entertainment announced it will publish Empire in Decay, a tactical roguelike deckbuilder from independent studio Siesta Games, with a launch on Steam planned for early 2027.
The game blends chess-style movement with over 200 cards
Empire in Decay sets players in a collapsing empire, letting them lead one of four playable factions in a rebellion to seize the throne. Matches require players to attack enemies while defending their own side of the board, since enemy units that reach the far end wipe out followers -- and those losses carry over between rounds. Losing all supporters ends the game.
Four factions unlock through gameplay progression
Players start with two factions, the Damerites and the Guild, each paired with a secondary faction. The Groundbreakers Society and Soul Harvesters factions unlock as players advance through the campaign. Every faction offers distinct abilities and cards, expanding deckbuilding options.
This marks Stardock's second title under its expanded publishing push
"Empire in Decay captivated us the moment we started playing it," said Brian Clair, Director of Publishing at Stardock. "The game is not only beautiful, it's incredibly fun to play as you build out your decks to save your people."
Eduardo Jimenez, CEO of Siesta Games, said the studio was surprised when Stardock reached out, calling the company a strong partner for strategy titles.
Wishlisting is now open ahead of the early 2027 release
Empire in Decay is available to wishlist on Steam, with Stardock and Siesta Games planning further updates on community initiatives and content ahead of launch.
