Los Angeles – September 04, 2026 -- Akatsuki Games has released Main Story Part 2 Chapter 1, titled "A New Threat," for Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, marking a new phase in the mobile and PC title's first anniversary celebration.
A new villain emerges from the remains of a defeated kaiju
The chapter picks up after Kafka Hibino and his allies survive a battle with Dimensional Identified Kaiju A. Data pulled from the creature's remains reveals the existence of "Dimensional Identified Kaiju D," a more powerful entity that previously hunted Kaiju A and now targets the power source behind Kaiju No. 8 itself. To respond, Kafka, Iharu Furuhashi, and the character Suited pass through an Artificial Dimensional Gate developed by Suited, launching a multiverse mission that opens Main Story Part 2.
Iharu Furuhashi joins the playable roster in a new CLOZER suit
Alongside the story update, Akatsuki Games added a new five-star playable character, [Flash-Fierce Talent] Iharu Furuhashi, available starting September 1. The character wears an upgraded CLOZER suit built from specimens of Dimensional Identified Kaiju A, with a design tailored specifically to him. His optimal weapon type is the shotgun, and the update also introduces a matching five-star weapon, the SG-Ahskay.
The game ties into an expanding anime and manga franchise
Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME is co-produced by Akatsuki Games, TOHO, and Production I.G, and is available free-to-play with in-app purchases on the App Store, Google Play Store, and Steam. It is based on Naoya Matsumoto's manga, which has surpassed 19 million copies in circulation in Japan across 16 volumes as of September 4, 2025. The anime's second season aired from July to September 2025, and a four-episode spinoff, Narumi's Week at Work, is set to stream weekly starting September 5, 2026.
