2027 Mazda CX-90 Adds a Two-Row Model, Replacing the CX-70

IRVINE, Calif. – October 28, 2026 -- The 2027 Mazda CX-90 adds a two-row version that replaces the CX-70 in the U.S., leaving shoppers one lineup instead of two separate crossovers. Mazda North American Operations announced pricing for the model, and all CX-90 versions get a revised rear suspension crossmember designed to improve comfort over rough pavement.

Two-row layouts arrive on Premium Sport trims

The new two-row configuration is available on the CX-90 3.3 Turbo Premium Sport and 3.3 Turbo S Premium Sport. Its second-row seats fold with a one-touch auto-down function for easier cargo access. Premium Sport buyers can also choose eight-passenger seating or a seven-passenger layout with second-row captain's chairs. Premium Sport also adds standard Alexa Built-In for 2027.

Four new exterior colors join the palette: Navy Blue Mica, Aero Grey Metallic, Melting Copper Metallic and Zircon Sand Metallic.

Turbo models run a 280-horsepower inline six

The CX-90 3.3 Turbo models use a 3.3-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine producing 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque on regular 87 octane fuel. A 48-volt mild-hybrid system called M-Hybrid Boost aids efficiency at low speed. Every CX-90 has an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard i-Activ AWD.

All models carry 10 airbags and standard driver aids including Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot Monitoring with Vehicle Exit Warning and Rear Seat Alert. Mazda also cites the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for the lineup.

Preferred and Premium Plus trims gain standard features

The 3.3 Turbo Preferred adds standard roof rails for 2027 and keeps its 21-inch wheels, heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel. Its 12.3-inch display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the car also has wireless phone charging.

The 3.3 Turbo Premium Plus now includes Mazda Online Navigation with over-the-air updates. It offers black or white Nappa leather, a 150-watt accessory outlet in the cargo area and a 360° View Monitor with See-Through View and Trailer Hitch View. Buyers can configure it for seven or eight passengers.

The plug-in hybrid offers up to 27 miles of electric range

The CX-90 PHEV pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and a 17.8-kWh battery. It makes 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on recommended 91-octane fuel. Mazda rates its all-electric range at up to 27 miles, and the car can run on electric power alone at freeway speeds. For 2027, the electric drive motor gains external insulation material for quieter low-speed operation.

Mi-Drive offers Sport, Off-Road and EV modes. The PHEV Preferred seats seven, with a second-row bench and a two-seat third row. The PHEV Premium Sport seats up to seven in either of two layouts: a second-row bench with a two-seat third row, or captain's chairs with a three-seat third row.
