SHERIDAN, WYOMING – August 14, 2024 – Honda today commemorated four decades of manufacturing excellence in North Carolina, unveiling a series of strategic investments and initiatives that underscore its commitment to the Tar Heel State and the future of powersports.

The centerpiece of the celebration was the inauguration of new weld and paint operations at the Honda North Carolina Manufacturing (NCM) facility in Swepsonville. This $21.5 million investment solidifies NCM as the exclusive production hub for all Honda all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) in North America.

In a landmark announcement, Honda also revealed that NCM will pioneer the production of future electrified powersports and power equipment products for the North American market. This move positions NCM at the forefront of Honda's global electrification strategy, showcasing the company's dedication to sustainable and innovative technologies.

A Legacy of Manufacturing Excellence

Since its establishment in 1984, NCM has consistently evolved its capabilities to meet the demands of the market. From its initial focus on lawnmowers, the facility has expanded its production to include a wide range of power equipment products. The recent integration of ATV manufacturing marks a significant milestone, ushering in a new era of powersports production at NCM.

"For over 40 years, Honda associates in North Carolina have consistently delivered high-quality products that meet the needs of our customers," said Lynne Hedrick, Site Lead at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing. "With full-fledged ATV production now in place, we are poised for an exciting future in powersports manufacturing."

Driving Innovation and Sustainability

Honda's decision to concentrate ATV production and spearhead electrified product development in North Carolina reflects the company's confidence in the skills and dedication of its workforce in the state. The substantial investments in NCM highlight Honda's commitment to innovation, sustainability, and the continued growth of its manufacturing presence in North America.

Mark Kohls, Vice President of Honda Powersports and Products at American Honda Motor Co., Inc., emphasized the significance of this decision: "Our choice to make North Carolina the home for Honda ATVs today and our electrified powersports and power equipment products of tomorrow underscores the 40-year legacy of excellence demonstrated by our associates in the Tar Heel State."

Community Partnership

In tandem with its manufacturing achievements, Honda remains dedicated to supporting the local community.
