SHERIDAN, WYOMING – November 03, 2024 – Renault introduced the all-new Master H2-Tech Prototype at the IAA Transportation event in Hannover, marking a significant advancement in hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles. This innovative addition complements the existing lineup of electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) models, offering customers a wider range of sustainable choices.
The Renault Master's multi-energy platform seamlessly integrates this new hydrogen architecture without compromising the strengths that have made this van a leader in Europe.
Made in France
The new Renault Master stands out as the only vehicle in its class manufactured in France. Its multi-energy platform, encompassing internal combustion, electric, and hydrogen variants, along with all body styles, are produced on the same assembly line at the Batilly plant near Metz. Furthermore, the engines, gearboxes, and batteries are also made in France, with 84% of suppliers based in the country.
Zero-Emission with Zero Compromise
While the internal combustion and electric versions were already available in the market, the new Renault Master H2-Tech version is set to be launched in 2025. This world premiere of the Master H2-Tech Prototype showcases the features of this zero-emission version, developed by HYVIA, a joint venture between Renault Group and Plug dedicated to hydrogen mobility.
As a pioneer and leader in electric commercial vehicles for the past 15 years, Renault has taken a similar approach to hydrogen solutions, offering a new energy source with zero compromise on use, accompanied by an ecosystem built for and with professional customers.
This hydrogen version is designed to provide constant operational availability and total peace of mind for the intensive use of professionals. With the best range in its segment, 700 km of WLTP autonomy, regardless of weather conditions, and a recharge time of only 5 minutes, Renault Master confirms its status as the new benchmark, irrespective of the energy that drives it.
This zero-emission version is adapted to the various intensive uses of professionals, available in van, floor cab, and chassis cab versions, and customizable for the most demanding needs, thanks to Renault Pro+ approved bodybuilders.
Pioneering Innovation in Hydrogen Technology
The new Renault Master H2-Tech Prototype represents a major pioneering innovation, made possible by the H2 expertise developed by HYVIA over more than three years, based on customer feedback on the first two H2-Tech versions available since 2023.
This innovation offers reliability and performance, thanks to a hydrogen architecture fully integrated into the vehicle platform right from the design stage, preserving both the loading area and the payload. The new-generation Dual Power architecture, combining battery and fuel cell energy, is energy-efficient and offers an unprecedented range of up to 700 km WLTP, with an integrated multimedia system for optimized management of range and H2 consumption.
Dedicated Support and H2 Expertise
The future Renault Master H2-Tech will be marketed by Renault and will benefit from a network of specialist H2-Tech dealers trained in the challenges of hydrogen for sales and after-sales service. The vehicle will be fully integrated into Renault's commercial vehicle range and supported by all the brand's commercial expertise.
Renault Master H2-Tech will continue to be driven by HYVIA's H2 expertise, building on its ability to initiate, develop, and support H2 ecosystems with a unique and comprehensive offer, including hydrogen vans, H2 stations, the supply of carbon-free hydrogen, and financing solutions.
