Stellantis and Valeo Drive Sustainability Forward with Europe’s First Remanufactured LED Headlamp and Display Screen

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – April 8, 2025 - Innovative partnership brings affordable, eco-conscious auto parts to European consumers

In a bold move toward sustainability and innovation, automotive leaders Stellantis and Valeo have launched Europe’s first remanufactured LED headlamp and a remanufactured infotainment display screen, further cementing their commitment to circular economy solutions. These groundbreaking products were unveiled at the Rematec trade fair in Amsterdam, showcasing the power of collaboration and eco-innovation in the auto industry.

A shared vision for a greener future

Both Stellantis and Valeo are long-standing partners with a clear goal: reduce waste, extend product lifespan, and support the transition to carbon neutrality. Stellantis aims to lead the industry to Carbon Net Zero by 2038, while Valeo is targeting carbon neutrality by 2050 through its CAP 50 decarbonization program.

“After the success of our collaboration with Valeo to launch the first remanufactured front camera for ADAS systems, we are expanding our range of remanufactured products to include electronics and launching the first remanufactured LED headlamp,” said Laurence Hansen, SVP Global Circular Economy at Stellantis. “This shows our commitment to innovate in automotive remanufacturing and meet the strong demand for headlamps and display spare parts in an affordable and sustainable way.”

Reimagining auto parts through remanufacturing

Remanufacturing is a key driver of the companies’ sustainability strategies. The process involves restoring used parts to original manufacturer specifications, ensuring they perform like new—while using fewer resources and generating less waste.

The new remanufactured LED headlamp is a European first. Up to 50% of its raw materials—such as the valuable LED module—are recovered from end-of-life components. This not only cuts down on resource usage but also reduces CO₂ emissions by up to 70% compared to producing new parts, according to Valeo’s internal estimations.

Expanded production for global impact

Valeo is leading the production of the remanufactured headlamp in its facilities in Chrzanow, Poland and Angers, France. Stellantis is the first automaker to offer this product in its aftersales portfolio under the SUSTAINera REMAN label. Availability is set to begin in the second half of 2025, with initial applications for the Peugeot 3008 and 5008 models, followed by the P 508.

Christophe Le Ligné, Valeo Group R&D VP and Light CTO, emphasized the broader impact: “At Valeo, sustainability is not just a word, it’s a commitment to action. At Valeo sustainability means action through teamwork. We are proud to extend our remanufactured portfolio thanks to our cooperation with Stellantis, while reinventing our industrial activities. After the successful launch of our worldwide premiere two years ago, we are launching a European premiere with the remanufactured headlamp. We are bringing an ‘as good as new’ offer at a lower cost to the end user.”

A second life for infotainment display screens

Alongside the headlamp, the remanufactured infotainment display screen marks another major milestone in the collaboration. Remanufactured at Valeo’s Circular Electronics Lab in Nevers, France—also home to its remanufactured front cameras—the display screen is available in the SUSTAINera REMAN range from June 2025.

This initiative helps tackle the wasteful disposal of high-value vehicle components and makes premium technology more accessible to consumers. The remanufactured display will support a wide range of popular models, including the Peugeot 308, Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross, DS DS3 Crossback, and Opel Grandland X, Corsa, and Mokka.

Decades of expertise power future growth

Valeo brings over 40 years of remanufacturing experience to the table, currently producing over one million remanufactured mechanical products each year. With ambitions to double this number by 2030, the company’s influence continues to grow across its portfolio of starters, alternators, compressors, brake calipers, dual mass flywheels, and more.

Through its SUSTAINera label, Stellantis offers more than 12,000 remanufactured part numbers across 40 product lines—including control units, multimedia systems, SCR tanks, transmissions, engines, and high-voltage batteries for electric vehicles.

Sustainability meets smart savings

This latest collaboration between Stellantis and Valeo not only helps drivers make environmentally conscious decisions—it also provides a cost-effective alternative to buying new parts without compromising on quality.

With remanufacturing at the forefront of both companies' sustainability strategies, this European launch is more than a product rollout—it’s a promise to build a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable future for mobility.
