Idemitsu and Throtl Tease a Secret Honda Build for SEMA 2026

Novi, Michigan – October 27, 2026 -- Honda fans who wanted a more driver-focused take on the brand's revived 2026 nameplate can see one at the SEMA Show on November 3 at 10 a.m., when Idemitsu Lubricants America and builder Throtl unveil a one-off Honda at booth #23753 in the Racing & Performance section of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The exact model and what sits under the hood remain secret until the reveal. Throtl promises the wait will be worth it for anyone who has wondered what Honda could have achieved by pushing the limits even further.

The build answers a hybrid-only, no-manual debate

When Honda revived one of its most iconic nameplates for 2026, enthusiasts had plenty to say. The coupe is hybrid-only and has no manual transmission, which left many wondering what could have been. Idemitsu and Throtl spent the past year creating a one-of-a-kind build that reimagines the car with the performance, power and driver-focused spirit enthusiasts have been craving.

Alex Moreira, Marketing Manager at Idemitsu, said the oil maker's engineering lubricants are purpose-built for Japanese engines and that the build will show what they can do when a car is pushed to its limit.

Throtl's co-founder says Idemitsu helped the build survive

Throtl Co-Founder Evan Beckerman said the team is taking on the build every Honda fan has been arguing about for months. In his words, the car wouldn't survive what the team is putting it through without Idemitsu's support.

The partnership began at SEMA 2025

Idemitsu and Throtl first teamed up at SEMA 2025 to bring bold Japanese builds to an audience steeped in car culture. The debut drew an enthusiastic response and became a fixture of Idemitsu's Racing & Performance presence. This year's project takes on one of the most talked-about controversies in Honda's recent history.
