Tacoma Cars & Coffee Moves to LeMay ACM on Jan. 17

Tacoma -- Starting January 17, 2026, Tacoma Cars & Coffee will meet at LeMay – America's Car Museum every third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The event runs throughout 2026.

Admission to the gathering is free, and it is open to cars of all years, makes and models. Coffee will come from @naomijoecoffee.

Organizers ask attendees to use good judgment on site

The museum describes the meetup as a community event. To keep it safe and fun for everyone, organizers ask visitors to use good judgment when entering, parking and exiting.

A refreshed Route 66 exhibition is open at the museum

The museum has opened a refreshed Route 66 exhibition in Tacoma, Washington, to mark the 100th anniversary of the opening of Route 66. The long-running visitor favorite now includes centennial-themed additions and vehicles that pay homage to the highway's 100th birthday. Throughout 2026, it will feature films and artifacts from the upcoming Route 66 Drive Home.

The Drive Home is a cross-country trip created as a partnership between America's Automotive Trust and the Detroit Auto Show. This seventh edition is also partnered with the Route 66 Centennial Commission and will cover Route 66 in its entirety. Nine vehicles will make the journey, followed by nearly two dozen "privateers" in their own vehicles.

Washington approves a new ACM specialty license plate

The Washington State Department of Transportation has approved a new LeMay – America's Car Museum specialty license plate design. The museum's original black-and-white "throwback" concept was adopted by the State for its own retro plate series, so ACM had to create a new design that met state specifications for color palette, layout and mandatory elements.

The museum is still waiting for the State to confirm when the plate can be ordered. Once the window opens, buyers will be able to order through the Washington State Department of Licensing website. Purchases support the museum's 501(c)(3) nonprofit work, including educational programming.
