Berlin – September 08, 2026 -- ODYSS, winner of the IFA 2026 Innovation Award, has introduced the ODYSS N1, an AI-powered nutrition necklace designed to eliminate manual food logging. The device was unveiled at IFA 2026 in Berlin as part of the company's push into what it calls the missing piece of personal health tracking: nutrition.
Wearables track sleep and steps, but not what you eat
ODYSS points out that while wearables have long mastered sleep and activity tracking, food intake monitoring has lagged behind. The company cites a CHI 2015 study from the University of Washington, which found that fatigue and social discomfort tied to manual logging drive users away from nutrition apps -- despite more than 300 million registered users across popular platforms.
Cameras and sensors replace manual entries
The N1 necklace uses a G-sensor and contact sensors to detect when it's being worn, paired with a wide-angle camera that captures visual cues of eating and hand-to-mouth movements. Rather than requiring users to log meals themselves, the device automatically identifies eating behavior in real time.
The necklace generates three nutrition scores per meal
ODYSS N1 produces three metrics -- quality, energy, and rhythm -- explaining how each meal affects energy levels, recovery, and sleep. The company positions it as a passive companion that runs in the background rather than an app requiring active check-ins.
A physical switch lets users turn off all tracking instantly
ODYSS built privacy controls directly into the hardware. A dedicated physical switch allows users to disable all capture functions immediately, and the device defaults to a low-activity mode when no eating is detected. On the software side, ODYSS says it filters out non-nutrition-related information, blurs faces and personal features in captured images, and deletes raw images after processing.
