USA TODAY Campaign Spotlights Blood Cancer Survivors, New Treatments

New York – September 25, 2026 -- A national awareness campaign on blood cancers and serious blood disorders launches within USA TODAY and online through Mediaplanet's Future of Personal Health digital hub. The Blood Cancers & Disorders campaign brings together clinical organizations, patient advocates and survivors to share trusted information on diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.

The editorial coverage spans adult and pediatric hematology and also addresses sickle cell disease, covering advances in care, patient education, and the experiences of families navigating a diagnosis.

Actor Evan Handler shares his leukemia survivorship story as the campaign's cover feature.

The longtime leukemia survivor offers a firsthand account of life beyond diagnosis and treatment, underscoring the need for continued awareness and support for survivors.

World champion triathlete Siri Lindley adds her cancer survivorship perspective to the campaign.

Lindley's story focuses on resilience and advocacy, contributing a personal dimension to the campaign's emphasis on empowering patients throughout their cancer journeys.

Blood Cancer United will distribute the campaign at Light The Night walks nationwide.

The grassroots distribution gives patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates direct access to educational resources and community connections. The campaign also features contributions from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, the American Society of Hematology, and the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

The campaign covers seven core topics across the hematology field.

These include blood cancer awareness, treatment advances, patient education, survivorship, sickle cell disease, pediatric and adult hematology perspectives, and advocacy voices from patients and field leaders.

The campaign is available nationally in USA TODAY and online beginning September 25, 2026, through combined print distribution, digital storytelling and community outreach at Light The Night events.
