Unterföhring -- September 01, 2026 -- German viewers can watch Olympic beach volleyball champion Laura Ludwig and former ATP tour winner Tommy Haas trade padel shots on live television when ProSieben broadcasts the "Promi Padel WM" from Arena Oberhausen on Saturday, November 21, 2026. The show starts at 8:15 p.m. and streams simultaneously on Joyn. Tickets for the live event went on sale immediately after the announcement.
Ten two-person celebrity teams will compete for the PadelCity Cup, a trophy first awarded last year when Christoph Kramer and Marc Rzatkowski took the title. This time the roster includes "Sports Creator of the Year" Paula Enzweiler, podcaster Tommi Schmitt, TV host Matthias Opdenhövel and singer Sasha, joining Ludwig and Haas on the court.
Hosts guide a night built for a fast-growing sport
Steven Gätjen, Elmar Paulke and Jerry Vsan will host the broadcast, steering viewers through a mix of sport, entertainment and comedy centered on padel, which organizers describe as currently one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. The game blends elements of tennis and squash and is played on a court enclosed by glass and mesh walls, a design that keeps the ball in play longer and produces rapid-fire rallies.
For audiences unfamiliar with the sport, that enclosed layout is part of what makes padel matches unpredictable to watch. Rebounds off the walls extend points and force players into quick reflex exchanges, a dynamic organizers say has fueled the sport's rising popularity in Germany and beyond.
Production team returns for a second edition
i&u Studios is producing the live show again this year, following the format's debut. ProSieben, part of the Seven. One Entertainment Group, will air the event as an entertainment show rather than a straight sports broadcast, pairing celebrity competition with live commentary throughout the evening.
