Historic NYC Diamond Exchange Reopens as $2.6M Condos

New York – September 17, 2026 -- The Financial District building that once processed most of the diamonds entering America is welcoming residents instead of jewelers. The ten-story Diamond Exchange at 14 Maiden Lane, completed in 1894, has been converted into nine full-floor condominium homes plus a commercial space, with pricing starting just under $2.6 million.

The building's oversized bay windows were built for diamond dealers, not daylight photos
Maiden Lane was once the center of the American diamond trade, and architect Gilbert A. Schellenger designed the building with some of the city's first oversized bay windows so dealers could inspect stones in natural light. More than 130 years later, those windows now flood each residence with daylight beneath ceilings reaching up to 12 feet 6 inches.

Each unit spans an entire private floor of roughly 1,300 square feet
Every home includes two bedrooms and a flexible third room usable as a bedroom or office, an open kitchen fitted with Viking, Bosch and Dacor appliances, and two full bathrooms with a steam shower. Interiors feature European white oak chevron floors, multi-zone heating and cooling, and an in-unit Bosch washer and dryer.

A chandelier from Harrods Buenos Aires now hangs in the lobby
The diamond-shaped fixture, historically significant in its own right, greets residents entering the building.

Amenities stay deliberately minimal to keep costs and privacy intact
The building offers only a virtual doorman, a package room and optional storage, a design choice meant to hold down carrying costs. "This building sparkled for the jewelers of Maiden Lane, and now it sparkles for the people who live here," said Thomas Guss of NYR.com, the brokerage representing the property.

The location sits steps from Wall Street and the Seaport
Residents get access to dining and historic streetscapes by day, with quiet streets at night. Private tours of The Diamond Exchange Condominium are available by appointment.
