Doetinchem – – October 05, 2026 -- Dutch sim-racing company Playseat is preparing to launch the Evolution 2, a next-generation racing cockpit the company calls the most adaptable all-round racing chair on the market today.
The Evolution 2 builds on the cockpit that started the category
The new chair is a direct successor to the original Playseat Evolution, the simulator credited with creating the home racing cockpit category in the mid-1990s. Playseat says the Evolution 2 carries that design expertise forward while adding greater versatility, expandability, and value for sim racers.
Playseat has a three-decade track record of firsts in sim racing
Since building its first prototypes in 1996, Playseat has introduced several category-defining products, including the world's first foldable racing seat and the first formula-position racing seat. The company has also struck partnerships with Red Bull, Mercedes-AMG, PUMA, PlayStation, NASCAR, and Formula 1.
The brand is expanding beyond racing into flight and heavy machinery simulation
Playseat plans to open new simulation categories later this year, including flight and heavy-duty machinery cockpits, extending its hardware beyond traditional racing setups.
"Since the first prototypes in 1996, we have continuously introduced new and unique products to unlock experiences and designs for everyone worldwide," said Fernando Smit, President and founder of Playseat. He added that the company is "upping the game even more for the future" to keep its latest products available to sim racers worldwide.
