Valencia – September 15, 2026 -- Six Flags Magic Mountain has announced Thrill Glider, a new roller coaster set to open in 2027 that will let riders fly face-down on suspended "hovercycles" at speeds up to 50 mph.
The ride creates an entirely new coaster category called the Thrillglider
Built exclusively for Magic Mountain by manufacturer Vekoma, Thrill Glider packs 20 track elements into an 80-second ride covering nearly 3.5 acres. Riders assume a prone, forward-facing position beneath the track, encountering 12 airtime moments and five inversions, including a wing-over, zero-g roll, overbanked stall turn and barrel rolls.
Six world records come with the 2027 debut
At 3,380 feet long, 107 feet tall and reaching 50 mph, Thrill Glider will claim titles including World's Longest, Fastest and Tallest Thrillglider, along with the most inversions in the category at five.
A fictional pulsar-powered energy company frames the story
The queue introduces guests to QuantumPulse Propulsion Systems, a fictional company led by inventor Rebecca Silva, which claims to harness energy from a pulsar called PSR B417. Riders pass through "The Futurist Pavilion," featuring holographic displays and hexagonal energy collectors, before boarding vehicles themed as the company's latest hovercycle prototype.
Park leadership calls it a milestone in Magic Mountain's evolution
"Thrill Glider is more than a new attraction. It is the latest milestone in Six Flags Magic Mountain's renaissance," said Brian Oerding, park president of Six Flags Magic Mountain.
A 48-inch height minimum opens the ride to more visitors
Thrill Glider will be built on the former Golden Bear Theatre site, between Full Throttle and LEX LUTHOR: Drop of Doom, near the reimagined Looney Tunes Land. Construction is already underway, and the park says the lower height requirement compared with many of its other coasters will make the flying experience accessible to families and first-time riders, not just enthusiasts.
Season passes are already on sale ahead of the 2027 opening
Six Flags is selling 2027 Season Passes that include unlimited rides once Thrill Glider opens, plus access to the park for the rest of 2026. The lowest price of the season, originally set to expire earlier, has been extended through Sept. 13.
