Scottsboro – – October 06, 2026 -- Unclaimed Baggage will host its 45th Annual Ski Sale on Saturday, Nov. 7, offering more than 50,000 square feet of ski gear, winter wear and holiday finds at up to 80% off retail value. The Scottsboro, Alabama-based retailer, which sells unclaimed items from lost airline luggage, has built this year's inventory into the largest stock in the event's 45-year history.
The sale has run annually since 1981
Held every year since 1981, the Ski Sale has grown into one of the largest events of its kind in the country, drawing shoppers from across the nation to a state where snow rarely falls. Unclaimed Baggage owner Bryan Owens said the sale is a chance for skiers and winter enthusiasts of every level to gear up for the season and find deals on equipment.
Shoppers can find gear from Patagonia, Arc'teryx and Canada Goose
New product will be released in waves throughout the day on Nov. 7, and a second sales floor will be set up under a tent outside the main store to handle crowds. Shoppers can expect skis, snowboards, helmets and outerwear from brands including Patagonia, Arc'teryx, Salomon, Canada Goose and Moncler, all sourced from lost airline luggage.
Overnight campers get a 45-minute head start and a $45 gift card
Dozens of deal-seekers typically arrive the night before to camp out for an early spot in line. The first 45 people in line receive a 45-minute head start to shop before doors open, along with a $45 Unclaimed Baggage gift card and a free Ski Sale t-shirt. The store provides fire pits, s'mores, pizza, games and movies for campers, with tents also available to rent.
