London – September 19, 2026 -- Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen passed all 100 rival karts in Red Bull's Max vs 100, the largest go-kart race ever staged, finishing the job on lap 14 of 30 at Silverstone.
Verstappen started 101st on a grid built specifically for the event and cleared the entire field in 35 minutes. The race streamed live on Disney+ and the ESPN App.
A single overtaking rule decided every elimination
A driver was eliminated the instant the rear of Verstappen's kart drew level with the front of theirs. The 100-strong field included Red Bull athletes, content creators, streamers, journalists and fans selected from around the world, racing on a temporary circuit at Silverstone designed by Race Director David Terrien.
The opening lap wiped out more than half the field
Two minutes into the race, Verstappen was running 37th while 63 drivers, more than half the grid, had already been eliminated without completing a single lap.
Three rivals built a 12-second lead before Verstappen closed in
Pole-sitter Jacky Martens, a Dutch Formula 1 journalist, alongside YouTuber Zac Alsop and Red Bull Ford Powertrains technician Lewis Osler opened up roughly a 12-second gap at the front. Verstappen cut three seconds a lap from that margin, passed Alsop and Osler in a single corner, then overtook Martens to win the race.
"After my first lap, with all the carnage, I did think, 'Okay, we have got this under control!'" Verstappen said. "Once I started getting into a rhythm, was able to overtake them one-by-one and saw the gap closing, that was really exciting."
Verstappen set the fastest lap and averaged one pass every 21 seconds
Martens finished second, Osler third, Alsop fourth and off-road motorcyclist Pol Tarrés fifth. Verstappen set the fastest lap of the race at 2m 20.673s, more than 2.6 seconds quicker than Martens's 2m 23.327s.
