Arlington – September 12, 2026 -- Water Wings Swim School will open its newest location at 6501 South Cooper St, Suite 101-C in Mansfield-Arlington South, with a grand opening celebration set for September 26.
Husband-and-wife team brings swim safety mission from Nigeria to Texas
The location is owned by Ekene and Rosaline Ogbechie, former oil and gas professionals who previously worked as a subsea engineer and accountant. While living in Scotland, the couple learned that drowning is a leading cause of death in Nigeria and used their life savings to open Nigeria's first heated indoor swim academy in 2022. After relocating to the United States, they partnered with Water Wings to bring year-round swim instruction to Mansfield-Arlington South, with plans to open 10 swim schools over the next 10 years, including future locations in Africa.
"Opening our swim school in Nigeria and seeing the impact it had on helping save lives reinforced just how important access to quality swim education can be," said Rosaline Ogbechie.
Splash Bash grand opening kicks off September 26
The community is invited to a Splash Bash on Saturday, September 26, featuring facility tours, instructor meet-and-greets and family activities. Free preview classes will follow Monday through Friday, September 28 through October 2, ahead of the school's official opening. Small class sizes target a 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio
Water Wings, a member of the United States Swim School Association, employs instructors certified in water safety, CPR and first aid. The company reports that more than 95% of students achieve their swimming goals within its structured program timeline. Classes are offered mornings, afternoons and evenings seven days a week, covering Parent & Me sessions, group and individual lessons, seasonal camps and competitive training.
The new location will operate Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., closed Fridays and Sundays. Water Wings, part of youth enrichment platform Unleashed Brands, serves 20,000 students annually across its national franchise network.
