Timo Boll Leads a Celebrity Team at Prime-Time Table Tennis Show

Unterföhring -- Table tennis goes prime time on December 12, 2026: "Die Promi Tischtennis WM" airs live on ProSieben from 8:15 p.m. and streams on Joyn, with Germany's most successful player, Timo Boll, leading a celebrity team.

Four teams, each led by a pro captain

The live show takes place on Saturday, December 12, at the CASTELLO Düsseldorf. Four teams compete, and each consists of a professional captain and three celebrity players. Boll, an eight-time European champion and former world No. 1, returns to the table for the event.

Hosts Panagiota Petridou and Frank Buschmann also want to show they can do more than talk: they aim to get the ball over the net, too.

Doubles matches and trick-shot challenges decide the title

The teams compete for the title in a range of disciplines, from doubles matches to trick-shot challenges. The celebrities must show their ball feel and table tennis skills on the big TV stage.

ProSieben is also building a multi-channel offering around the broadcast. Training videos, behind-the-scenes looks and digital highlight clips will run on its platforms.

Boll wants to win over a broad audience

Boll says almost everyone has stood at a table tennis table at some point, whether in a schoolyard, a park or a basement. He is glad the ProSieben show lets the players introduce a broad audience to the finer points of the sport.

ProSieben and the German Table Tennis Association (Deutscher Tischtennis-Bund e.V.) are partners on the event, and Redseven Entertainment produces the show. Tickets for the live event in Düsseldorf are on sale now.
