Berlin -- QIVIKA will launch its Smart Scope on Kickstarter on September 15, 2026, a smartphone-connected optical device offering 24x optical magnification for both night sky and wildlife viewing.
The device delivers up to 3000mm equivalent focal length
QIVIKA's periscope-style optical system uses ED glass and multi-coated optics to bring distant subjects closer through a physical optical path, rather than relying on software-based digital zoom. The company says this approach helps maintain image clarity and contrast at long range.
A 300-gram body supports handheld and tripod use
Users can operate the Smart Scope handheld for quick, spontaneous shots or mount it on a tripod for extended observation sessions, such as stargazing or birdwatching.
The companion app identifies over 10,000 bird species
QIVIKA pairs the hardware with a mobile application featuring AR sky guidance to help users locate celestial targets, AI-assisted bird identification, personal observation logging, and a community discovery feature. The company frames the product experience around a cycle it describes as: see, capture, recognize, remember, and share.
The product debuted at IFA 2026 in Berlin before its crowdfunding launch
QIVIKA's optical system drew coverage from technology outlets Frandroid and Yanko Design following its IFA 2026 showing, with both publications noting the device's portable optical architecture and smartphone integration.
The Kickstarter campaign opens September 15, 2026
QIVIKA is positioning the Smart Scope as a tool for a range of outdoor activities beyond astronomy, including lunar observation, birdwatching, and long-distance photography.
