New York – October 11, 2026 -- US passport holders can now add a free, TSA-approved digital ID to Samsung Wallet and use it at more than 250 Transportation Security Administration checkpoints, leaving the physical ID in the bag. The feature, called Samsung ID with CLEAR, comes from a partnership between CLEAR and Samsung Electronics America.
How the digital ID works at the airport
Samsung ID with CLEAR is a digital ID backed by the information in your US passport and verified by CLEAR's secure identity platform. Travelers can present it at airport security with a simple tap or a QR scan. It is approved for domestic travel.
Stadium age checks start at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles
The ID also works for age verification at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, with more sporting arenas to follow. BMO Stadium's Chief Technology Officer, Christian Lau, said the venue wants guests to move through faster and more securely, including the international audiences expected in Los Angeles in 2026.
Samsung Wallet now supports passports, travel and age 21+ credentials
Samsung Wallet already stores payment cards, IDs, passes and digital keys. With this launch, it also supports passports, travel, age 21+ and other government use cases. The wallet app requires a compatible smartphone running Android 9.0 or higher and a Samsung account. Payment card support is limited to select credit or debit cards from participating banks.
Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics' Mobile eXperience Business, said the integration lets users leave physical IDs in their bags and rely on secure digital identity instead.
