Telekom Accelerates 5G Expansion, Building Five New Mobile Sites Daily

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – September 30, 2024 – Deutsche Telekom is significantly ramping up its 5G network expansion, constructing an average of five new mobile sites every working day. In the past four weeks alone, the company has enhanced mobile communications at 535 locations, including 96 brand-new sites equipped with 4G and 5G frequencies.

This rapid expansion translates to improved network capacity and broader 5G coverage. Telekom has also activated 5G at 89 existing sites and now boasts over 12,800 5G antennas operating on the ultra-fast 3.6 GHz frequency across 950 cities and towns, offering download speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.

"Bereits heute können 97 Prozent der Haushalte auf das 5G-Netz der Telekom zugreifen. Die Haushaltsabdeckung bei 4G liegt bei über 99 Prozent," said a Telekom representative. (Translation: "Already today, 97 percent of households can access Telekom's 5G network. 4G household coverage is over 99 percent.")

Telekom's commitment to network improvement is further underscored by its capacity enhancements at 439 existing sites. The company provides multiple avenues for customers to stay informed about these developments. Individuals can check their mobile coverage on Telekom's website, visit Telekom Shops and specialist stores, or call the toll-free hotline. Additionally, Telekom offers a WhatsApp channel dedicated to network expansion and operations, providing regular updates and insights directly to users' smartphones.
