SHERIDAN, WYOMING – November 09, 2024 – Fujifilm has announced the launch of the FUJINON XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II lens, a new addition to their X Series of interchangeable lenses.  This lens is designed to provide outstanding image quality in a compact and lightweight body.

The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II is the successor to the XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR, a large-aperture standard zoom lens and flagship model in the XF lens series.  It is 37% lighter than its predecessor, making it an ideal choice for photographers who need a versatile lens that is easy to carry.

The lens configuration has been optimized to enhance descriptive performance.  It features an "Aperture Click Switch," a first for the XF lens series, that allows users to choose between a click and de-click setting when operating the aperture ring.  The de-click setting enables smooth brightness changes, which is particularly useful for videographers.

Exceptional Image Quality and Versatility
The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II is a large-aperture standard zoom lens with a maximum aperture of F2.8 across the entire zoom range, from a wide angle of 16mm to a medium telephoto of 55mm.  This makes it suitable for a wide range of photography genres, including landscapes, portraits, and nature photography.

The lens construction consists of 16 elements in 11 groups, including four aspherical lenses, one super ED lens, and three ED lenses.  This design ensures high resolution from the center to the periphery of the image, while also minimizing chromatic aberration.

In addition, the lens features a minimum focusing distance of 0.3m across the entire zoom range, with a maximum magnification of 0.21x, making it ideal for close-up photography.

Compact and Lightweight Design
The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II has been designed with portability in mind.  The latest lens processing technology has allowed Fujifilm to make the component lenses thinner, resulting in a lens that is approximately 11mm shorter, 37.8% smaller in volume, and 37.4% lighter than its predecessor.

The lens is also weather-resistant, with sealing in 12 places to protect against dust, water, and low temperatures.  A fluorine coating on the front lens element repels water and dirt, making it suitable for use in challenging weather conditions.

Enhanced Video Recording Features
The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II includes several features that make it ideal for video recording. The "Aperture Click Switch" allows for smooth aperture control, and the lens also suppresses angle-of-view variation during focusing.

High-Speed Autofocus
The lens uses an inner focus system, which reduces the size and weight of the focus lens.  A high-speed linear motor drives the focus lens group, resulting in a fast and accurate autofocus speed of approximately 0.02 seconds.

The XF16-55mmF2.8 R LM WR II is a versatile and powerful lens that is perfect for photographers and videographers of all levels of experience. Its combination of exceptional image quality, compact design, and advanced features make it a valuable addition to any camera bag.
