Marriott's Luxury Group and Sotheby's Launch 'Art of Knowing' Series in Asia Pacific

Hong Kong – September 17, 2026 -- Luxury Group by Marriott International and Sotheby's have expanded their global partnership into Asia Pacific for the first time, launching a new masterclass series called "The Art of Knowing." The program combines short digital videos with exclusive in-person events, giving hotel guests closer access to rare craftsmanship, collecting, and connoisseurship.

The initiative follows last year's debut of private tours at Sotheby's Maison during Sotheby's Hong Kong's Luxury Week.

A one-minute video series features Sotheby's specialists distilling decades of expertise

Filmed at The St. Regis Hong Kong, the video series stars Sotheby's specialists Vanessa Wat (Handbags & Fashion), George Lacey (Wine & Luxury), and Jane Ki (Jewelry). Each episode runs one minute and covers the craftsmanship, provenance, and collector insights behind handbags, jewelry, watches, and wines. The series began rolling out across Luxury Group and Sotheby's channels starting September 2.

In-person masterclasses kicked off September 14 at The St. Regis Hong Kong

The first live event, held at The St. Regis Hong Kong on September 14, centered on exceptional handbags presented by Sotheby's, letting guests engage directly with select pieces. The series continues October 2 at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong, with a masterclass focused on fine watch collecting.

A four-hands dinner pairs two Michelin-starred restaurants for the October 2 event

The Ritz-Carlton evening will include a culinary collaboration between two Michelin-starred L'Envol at The St. Regis Hong Kong and one Michelin-starred Tosca di Angelo at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. The menu includes Mediterranean lobster with Oscietra caviar, red star grouper in Matalotta soup, and charcoal-grilled Wagyu with violet baby artichoke and gnocchi. A Sotheby's specialist will lead a wine pairing discussion throughout the dinner. Reservations can be made by contacting the hotel directly.

Bart Buiring, Managing Director, Luxury, Greater China, Marriott International, said the collaboration lets guests experience extraordinary collectibles up close while learning the stories behind them.

The series expands to Shenzhen on October 15 with a wine-focused event

"The Art of Knowing" will continue at The St. Regis Shenzhen Bao'an on October 15 with a masterclass centered on wine, extending the program's reach across the region.
