Klausen – November 02, 2026 -- The South Tyrolean town of Klausen turns its medieval old town into a Christmas market on weekends and selected days between November 27 and December 23, 2026. The "Klausner Gassladvent" is the opening act of a winter season that also covers skiing, sledding and snowshoe hikes across four villages: Klausen, Barbian, Feldthurns and Villanders.
Handmade crafts fill the alleys of Klausen's old town
Lights, mulled wine and traditional crafts line the narrow lanes between old townhouses. Visitors can find handmade items, carved nativity figures and South Tyrolean specialties.
Six ski areas are within reach of the region
The "Wintersafari" links several Dolomite ski areas: Gröden, Seiser Alm, Plose, Gitschberg Jochtal and Rittner Horn. Their slopes cover a range of difficulty levels.
Families can head to the sledding runs on the Villanderer Alm. Near Latzfons, the Lahnwiesen toboggan runs offer descents for children and adults. Ski tours, snowshoe hikes and guided winter walks round out the program.
Each village has its own landmark
Klausen offers medieval facades, small shops and cafés. Barbian is known for its leaning church tower. Feldthurns, nicknamed the chestnut village, has untouched snowfields and a view of the Geisler peaks. Villanders features historic farmsteads.
Dumplings and local wine round out the day
Mountain huts, inns and restaurants serve dumplings, Schlutzkrapfen and sweet specialties made with regional ingredients. South Tyrolean wines accompany the meals.
