GRAND CUL-DE-SAC, St Barthélemy – November 02, 2026 -- Le Sereno, the all-suite waterfront hotel on St Barthélemy, reopens on 16 November 2026 after a three-year overhaul, with rates ranging from 1,550 to 18,600 EUR.
Owners Luis and Angelica Contreras led the project. Their earlier work includes the original Le Sereno design with Christian Liaigre and the later creation of Il Sereno on Lake Como. The update adds tropical gardens, redone suites, a pool area reworked with Patricia Urquiola and a new beach club, BOKAO.
Coconut palms now line the arrival
Guests enter through a living tunnel of coconut trees. Denys Ridrimont provided creative direction for the collection of gardens. Beside the new arrival area, with its tropical green walls, stands a Copernicia fallaensis. The palm spans more than ten meters and is believed to be the only specimen of its kind on the island.
Every suite gets its own garden for shade, natural cooling and secluded seating. "Each suite has its own garden, so that memories can be born there," says Luis Contreras.
Dredged lagoon sand enlarges the beach
Le Sereno worked with the Collectivité de Saint-Barthélemy and the Réserve Naturelle de Saint-Barthélemy on the beachfront. Sand equivalent to thousands of truckloads was dredged from the lagoon and placed on the beach in front of the hotel. Sea turtles can be observed in the protected lagoon. Guests get complimentary transparent-bottom kayaks and custom stand-up paddleboards.
Patricia Urquiola reworks the pool deck
The stone that mimics the beach's turquoise water and the largest pool deck in St Barth both remain. Urquiola added a conversation pit at the head of the pool. The deck now includes outdoor lounges, seafront cabanas, a new pool bar and designer loungers.
The new Suite des Pêcheurs has a private pool and beach gate
Every accommodation has been redone, and Urquiola-designed canopies now shade the waterfront suites. The new signature Suite des Pêcheurs covers 230 square metres with one bedroom and two bathrooms. It has a private pool with a deck shaded by a coconut palm, and a private gate opening directly onto the beach. The open-plan bathroom features a sculptural Cenote bathtub.
BOKAO joins Le Sereno Al Mare on the waterfront
After acquiring the adjoining beachfront property, Le Sereno introduces BOKAO, a beach club built around barefoot living and long lunches. It sits alongside Le Sereno Al Mare, which serves contemporary Italian cooking, including lobster spaghetti, in a newly designed beachfront space.
Spa Le Sereno offers Valmont facials, body treatments and massages in treatment rooms, a beachfront pavilion or guests' suites. The pavilion, St Barth's only waterfront spa pavilion, was redone and paved with Orosei stone.
