Ridgefield, Conn. – September 30, 2026 -- A new concierge-style evaluation service in Fairfield County is helping homeowners find out if the coins and jewelry gathering dust in their attics are actually worth a fortune.
A client's inherited coins turned out to be worth $60,000
Liberty Ridge Coins & Bullion, founded in 2025 by Ridgefield resident Jay Goodman, recently evaluated a customer's inherited coin collection and identified two rarities: a 1907 High Relief Saint-Gaudens $20 gold coin, one of only 12,367 struck, and a rare 1801 $10 Draped Bust gold coin. Graded by PCGS at the ANA coin show in Pittsburgh at MS64 and AU53 respectively, the pair is worth roughly $60,000 in certified condition. Goodman noted that exceptional examples of these same coins can fetch more than $1.2 million combined.
The company offers in-home evaluations with no obligation to sell
Liberty Ridge Coins & Bullion provides private, appointment-only consultations at a client's home or a local meeting location, using professional testing equipment to authenticate gold, silver, platinum, palladium, coins, jewelry, scrap gold and bullion. The process starts with a free initial consultation and review of items, after which Goodman explains findings and current market values.
"People often inherit a collection or jewelry from a parent or grandparent and have no idea what they have," Goodman said. "My goal is to make the evaluation process comfortable, educational and completely pressure-free."
Service area covers Fairfield County and parts of New York
The business serves Fairfield and Litchfield counties, including Ridgefield, Redding, Weston, Wilton, Newtown and Danbury, plus Westchester County and the Hudson Valley in New York. Remote evaluation and purchasing services are also offered to clients nationwide.
Goodman is urging residents doing fall cleaning to have old collections examined before discarding or selling them. "Something that looks ordinary can sometimes warrant a closer look," he said. The company states its evaluations are informal market assessments and does not provide written insurance, estate, tax or legal appraisals.
