Embark's New DNA Feature Explains Why Your Dog Barks at 2 A.M.

Boston – September 13, 2026 -- Embark Veterinary Inc. launched Behavior Insights & Training, a new in-app feature that translates a dog's DNA into 15 genetic behavior insights paired with a year of personalized training guidance.

The feature connects genetics to everyday quirks

Behavior Insights delivers 15 genetic markers tied to predispositions like hyperactivity, separation anxiety, wariness of unfamiliar objects or other dogs, and a tendency to feel easily overwhelmed. Instead of relying on generic breed advice, the tool aims to show pet parents why their dog reacts the way it does -- from lunging at visitors to anxiety triggered by jingling keys.

"Every dog owner knows the feeling of loving a dog whose habits don't fully make sense to them," said Amish Desai, Embark CEO. He said the feature gives owners a genetic starting point so training feels like working with a dog's wiring rather than against it.

Training plans come from a partnership with Dogo

Customers who purchase the upgrade receive a full year of guided training through a personalized plan built around their dog's specific behavior insights, created in partnership with Dogo. The Embark app already serves more than 12 million dog parents, and the company reports that more than 8 in 10 users have seen behavior improvements within two weeks.

The upgrade costs $39 for existing customers

Behavior Insights is available as a $39 upgrade for customers who already own Embark's Breed ID or Breed + Health tests, accessible directly through the Embark app. The purchase includes a full year of the Dogo training program at no additional cost.
