Sony's New ULT TOWER Speakers Bring Club-Level Bass to Backyard Parties

San Diego – September 07, 2026 -- Sony Electronics is launching three new party speakers in its ULT POWER SOUND series -- ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7, and ULT TOWER 5 -- built with deep bass and DJ-ready features for everything from backyard parties to karaoke nights.

The lineup arrives in September 2026, with the ULT TOWER MAX priced at $1,499.99 USD, the ULT TOWER 7 at $649.99 USD, and the ULT TOWER 5 at $449.99 USD. Canadian pricing runs from $599.99 to $2,099 CAD. All three will be sold at Sony.com, Best Buy, Amazon, and other authorized retailers.

Hip-hop producers helped tune the sound

Sony co-developed the speakers with Grammy-nominated producer Dot Da Genius, drummer and producer Daru Jones, DJ and producer Dready, and audio engineer Dennis "ROC.am" Jones. Their feedback shaped the tuning toward deeper low frequencies, stronger impact, and clearer vocals.

The flagship packs three woofers into one cabinet

The ULT TOWER MAX uses two front-facing woofers and one rear-facing woofer, paired with a high-powered amplifier, to project bass throughout a venue. It also features 360° Party Sound with four tweeters and mid-range speakers, a feature shared with the ULT TOWER 7 for room-filling coverage.

DJs and karaoke singers get dedicated hookups

All three models offer XLR, RCA, and USB-C connectivity for DJ setups, plus support for Sony's optional ULTMIC1 microphone for karaoke. A new Party Chain feature uses Auracast broadcast technology to link multiple compatible Sony speakers so music and lighting stay synchronized across a room or venue.

Lighting shifts the mood without touching a mixer

Three lighting modes are built in: BEAT syncs lights to the rhythm, WAVE creates ambient effects for gatherings, and MELLOW slows the pattern for relaxed listening. A dedicated ULT button toggles between ULT1, ULT2, FLAT, and LIVE sound profiles, with further tuning available through the Sony Sound Connect app's Custom EQ.

Battery life and weatherproofing target outdoor use

The ULT TOWER 7 runs up to 30 hours on a charge, while the ULT TOWER 5 lasts up to 20 hours. Both carry an IPX4 water-resistance rating when positioned vertically, and the MAX and 7 models add wider-tread wheels for easier transport across uneven ground.

Recycled plastic makes up a chunk of each speaker

Roughly 35% of the total plastic in the ULT TOWER MAX is recycled material, while the ULT TOWER 7 and ULT TOWER 5 each use about 20% recycled plastic by weight.

Sony is also backing dance and DJ communities

Sony will serve as official wireless speaker partner for Red Bull Dance Your Style 2026, supporting the National Final USA in September 2026 and the World Final in Switzerland in October 2026. Separately, Sony is the official audio partner for the Your Shot DJ program, supplying ULT POWER SOUND speakers and headphones to participants.
