New York – September 12, 2026 -- ScholarshipOwl will host its first-ever Winners Bash on September 10, a 45-minute virtual event celebrating more than 3,000 students who won scholarships through the platform this year.

Twenty students will win an extra $500 each during the live event

ScholarshipOwl will award an additional $10,000 in scholarships during the event, with 20 students each receiving $500. Winners will be selected and announced live, and only students who attend the event are eligible to win.

The event runs at 7 p.m. ET on September 10

Cologne – September 11, 2026 -- German broadcaster WDR has produced a second batch of 1,000 free "Maus" school-start packages for first-grade classrooms in North Rhine-Westphalia after the initial run sold out within days.

The free kits, tied to the long-running children's show Die Sendung mit der Maus, are designed to ease the transition into elementary school and introduce young children to responsible media use.

Demand exhausted two full print runs in days

The first 1,000 packages were claimed by teachers almost immediately after launch. WDR responded by printing 1,000 more, but those were also fully requested by educators shortly after.

WDR Director General Dr. Katrin Vernau said the response shows strong demand for reliable, child-friendly educational materials, and that the broadcaster plans to expand the program further in 2027.

Laichingen – September 09, 2026 -- A new survey of 1,000 people aged 16 to 35 in Germany finds that nearly a third of respondents can answer no more than one of three basic financial questions correctly, while only 33.5 percent pass the full basic test. Without consistent access to basic supplies, students may feel uncomfortable or self-conscious, which can affect their ability to attend school and focus on learning. For middle and high school aged girls, a reliable supply of period products can determine whether they attend or stay present at school at all.

Washington – September 07, 2026 -- The Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum has launched "On Air," a free educational video series aimed at students in grades five through eight.

Monthly video collections cover a rotating set of aerospace topics

Each month during the school year, the museum releases a new collection built around a single theme. Confirmed topics for the 2026–2027 school year include weather in September, the solar system in October, art in November, air ships in February, moons in March, and comets and meteors in April.

Every collection contains four videos, each under 10 minutes, plus an educator guide with classroom resources, student activities and full lesson plans.
