Walgreens Adds $49 Virtual GLP-1 Visits, Insurance Help

Deerfield, Ill. – October 28, 2026 -- Walgreens has expanded its weight management services so eligible patients can see a doctor or nurse practitioner online for $49 per visit, with no subscription, and get help with insurance coverage for GLP-1 medications. The medication itself costs extra.

Through Walgreens Weight Management, patients can connect with a clinician online and, if eligible, receive a prescription for an FDA-approved GLP-1 weight loss medication. The prescription is based on medical evaluation and is not guaranteed. Patients already taking a GLP-1 drug for weight loss can also use the virtual clinicians to support ongoing treatment.

Virtual care now covers insurance and Medicare Bridge paperwork

The service can now check commercial insurance prescription coverage and complete prior authorizations when needed. It also helps patients weigh self-pay and commercial insurance options. Patients eligible for CMS' Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program can now connect with virtual providers for help with eligibility, prior authorizations and setting up a treatment plan.

Pharmacists will contact every new GLP-1 patient after pickup

After a patient starts filling a GLP-1 prescription, Walgreens pharmacists will reach out to answer common questions about the medication, share educational resources and point to further support. Rick Gates, Walgreens' Chief Pharmacy & External Affairs Officer, said more than half of patients who begin GLP-1 therapy for weight management stop within a year.

A new online hub compares savings cards and side-effect products

Walgreens has launched a GLP-1 resource hub covering treatment options and costs. Through Rx Savings Finder, it lists manufacturer savings card options for Wegovy Injection and Pill, Zepbound and Foundayo. The hub also explains Walgreens Weight Management, the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program and products for side effects such as nausea, dehydration and other gastrointestinal issues.

Availability varies by state

Virtual weight management services are available in all U.S. states except Alabama. For Medicare Bridge patients, the service is unavailable in Alabama, Washington D.C., Delaware, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Rhode Island and West Virginia. None of the services are available in Puerto Rico.
