Columbus, Ohio – October 15, 2026 -- Medicare Advantage plans with Part D drug coverage in 45 states and Puerto Rico have earned a 2027 Senior Choice Gold Award for the value of their medical and prescription drug benefits, which take effect January 1.
Awards draw on cost-sharing analysis across more than 100 markets
HealthMetrix Research Inc. selected the recipients from Medicare Advantage plans in over 100 markets. The selections rest on a cost-sharing analysis posted on MedicareNewsWatch.com. Plans also had to reach an overall quality and performance rating of at least 3.5 stars, as reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
Twenty-three Medicare Advantage sponsors are recognized for "Excellence in 2027 Medicare Benefits Value & Performance." The source headline names Humana, Devoted Health, Aetna and Alignment Health among the leading multi-state plans.
Roughly 80% of winners also hold at least 4 stars from CMS
According to HealthMetrix Research president Alan Mittermaier, approximately 80% of the award recipients also achieved overall CMS ratings of at least 4 stars. He said ongoing concerns about inflation and out-of-pocket health care costs weigh on Medicare beneficiaries regardless of socioeconomic status.
Criteria cover copayments, deductibles and premiums
The award criteria use 2027 core benefits and cost-sharing features approved by Medicare and published on Medicare Plan Finder. They include plan copayments, deductibles and premiums. These figures are adjusted for beneficiaries' health status (Excellent, Good or Poor) and their use of health care services.
HealthMetrix Research states that it neither recommends nor endorses specific Medicare Advantage plans.
