Cornea Specialist Ana Morales Joins OCLI Vision on Long Island

East Setauket – October 19, 2026 -- Cataract patients in Suffolk County can now book with Ana A. Morales, MD, a board-certified, fellowship-trained ophthalmologist who began seeing patients at OCLI Vision's East Setauket, Patchogue and Port Jefferson offices on October 19, 2026.

She offers premium lenses and laser-assisted cataract surgery

Dr. Morales specializes in advanced cataract surgery. Her services include premium intraocular lenses (IOLs), astigmatism correction and femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery. She also provides medical and laser management of glaucoma. When appropriate, she offers minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) alongside cataract surgery.

Her cornea fellowship focuses on the eye's surface before surgery

Dr. Morales completed fellowship training in Cornea and External Disease. That background lets her treat complex corneal and ocular surface disorders and optimize the ocular surface before cataract surgery. This matters most for patients who want premium lens technology and the best possible refractive outcomes. In her view, successful surgery begins well before surgery day, with a thorough evaluation, patient education and attention to ocular surface health.

She previously ran a dry eye program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center

Before joining OCLI Vision, Dr. Morales was Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Dry Eye and Ocular Surface Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. There she developed a regional referral program for complex ocular surface disease and established her second Dry Eye Center of Excellence, while keeping an active cataract surgery practice.

She has performed more than 120 procedures in Gansu Province, China

Dr. Morales has led surgical mission teams in China, Haiti, and across Asia and Latin America. In Gansu Province, China, she performed more than 120 cataract and corneal procedures.

Her training spans Mexico, St. Louis, Louisville and India

She earned her medical degree and completed her first ophthalmology residency at the Autonomous University of Nuevo León in Monterrey, Mexico. Her cornea fellowship was at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. She later completed an Internal Medicine internship and a second ophthalmology residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She also trained in advanced refractive cataract surgery at Narayana Nethralaya in Bangalore and Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital in Chennai, India.

Dr. Morales is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. She has trained ophthalmology residents in cataract surgery, ocular surface disease and anterior segment procedures. She is fluent in English and Spanish, so Spanish-speaking patients can receive care in their preferred language.
