CHICAGO – October 29, 2026 -- Illinois residents shopping for 2027 health coverage can start enrolling Nov. 1, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) is adding new plan options and a wellness rewards program worth up to $100 a year.
BCBSIL adds plan designs and a catastrophic option
For individuals and families, BCBSIL will offer Blue Choice Preferred PPO, Blue Precision HMO, BlueCare Direct HMO and MyBlue Plus POS plans in various Illinois markets. New plan designs are coming to the BlueCare Direct HMO portfolio, and MyBlue Plus POS gains a new catastrophic option.
The Blue Choice Preferred PPO network includes more than 210 hospitals and nearly 100,000 providers statewide.
Eligible members can earn up to $100 for healthy activities
Through GO Wellbeing and Go Points, members age 18 and older can earn up to $100 each year for taking part in certain healthy activities.
Premiums are only part of the price tag
BCBSIL says the monthly premium is just one factor. Shoppers should check whether their preferred doctors, specialists and hospitals are in-network and estimate how often they will see a doctor or fill prescriptions. They should also weigh deductibles, copays and other out-of-pocket costs against their budget.
Other points on the insurer's checklist are understanding how each plan type affects where and how you get care, and looking at extra programs that support health through the year.
BCBSIL President Brian Snell said the company will keep offering members access, choices and support as health care needs change. The insurer is marking 90 years in Illinois.
Open enrollment runs through January 15. Consumers who want help finding a plan on GetCoveredIllinois.gov can contact an independent, authorized agent.
