Magnet Test Reveals Needle in Snickers Bar, Wisconsin Family Says

Columbus, Wisconsin – November 01, 2026 -- A magnet test led a Columbus family to a needle inside a Snickers bar from their son's Halloween haul, and police are now looking at the report.

Magnet test flagged one treat after trick-or-treating

The Lanzhammer family says they went trick-or-treating in Columbus on Saturday night. When they got home, they checked all of their son's treats with a magnet. One of the treats stuck to it.

The family opened that candy to inspect it and says they found a needle inside the Snickers bar. They reported it to police.

Police have no other reports of tampered candy

The Columbus Police Department confirmed to WMTV that it received the report. Officers said they have not received any other reports of items found inside candy.

Police advise people to inspect any candy that comes from people they do not know. If a treat has been tampered with, they say it should be disposed of properly.
